Description: Having just left CalTrain, I was on my bike, crossing 23rd Street at the intersection near the top of the Northbound CalTrain stairs. After I was in the intersection, a car headed east on 23rd Street began to speed up and I pedaled harder since it appeared that he was going to hit me. He hit just caught the end of my bike on his bumper and it sent me to the ground. Fortunately I was wearing a helmet as my head was the first part of my body to make contact with the pavement. A witness who saw the whole thing told me that the driver seemed to deliberately speed up. I was taken in an ambulance to S.F. General and released after careful observation. The police coordinated the exchange of information between the driver and me. When I arrived home, the driver had left an angry message on my voicemail machine saying that I had deliberately set up the accident in order to collect on insurance.
